This week at Bible Study we watched this powerful video by Sid Roth with his guest Jim Richards. In the video, Richards shares his salvation testimony as well has his jaded past. As a scientist and Bible scholar, Richard’s learned that our bodies hold unto emotions at a cellular level and if not eradicated, can often manifest as disease in the body. In fact, dis-ease, illness, or pain in various organs can relate to specific types of emotions. For example, the liver is associated with anger. People with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome may abhor negative or hateful feelings towards themselves.
In my new Renewing the Mind Christian Meditation Course, that I will launch shortly, I included a chart that shows this exact principle. At the end of the video, Richard’s takes you through a Putting Off and Putting On Prayer. I have typed out the prayer and included it below (with a few modifications). This Putting Off and Putting On Prayer is similar to the Welcoming Prayer and Release Toxic Emotions Meditation or CD that I teach in several of my programs that allows you to recognize and release or detach from toxic feelings instead of making them your own. My Inner Healing Course and Meditation does this as well.
Please watch the video and then use these tools as need to cleanse your mind and purify your heart from the fiery darts of the enemy whose sole purpose is to kill your vision, steal your joy, and destroy your testimony.
Negative Emotions to Put OFF: fear, anger, pride, jealousy, hopelessness, insecurity, hatred, anxiety, restlessness, condemnation, guilt, shame, doubt, worry, unforgiveness, greed, lust, rage, selfishness, bitterness, meanness, laziness, slothfulness, lying, deceit, etc.
Colossians 3: 5-10 – Put to (put off) death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. Because of these, the wrath of God is coming. You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived. But now you must also rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator.
Positive Emotions to Put ON: love, joy, peace, long suffering, patience, wisdom, trust, hope, faith, forgiveness, generosity, compassion, kindness, gratitude, self-love, self-acceptance, power, humility, thankfulness, honesty, integrity, etc.
Colossians 3:12-15: “Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves (put on) with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.”
